Home-Start Colchester

Home-Start Colchester is a local children and family support charity committed to making a real difference to the lives of local children and families.

Home-Start Colchester is responsive to need, designing family support around individual families when support is requested and wanted. Providing parent mentoring, along with information, guidance and practical and emotional assistance.  Our approach is as individual as the people we’re helping. No judgement, it is just compassionate, confidential help and expert support.

We work alongside parents, often in their own homes, to help them cope with the stresses and strains of life and make sure they have the skills, confidence and strength they need to nurture their children. We also provide opportunities for children to build skills and reach their full potential. We also have volunteer opportunities for local parents to join Home-Start to offer peer parent mentoring, receiving valuable preparation training to increase skills and prepare for the role.

Home-Start Colchester is part of a national network of home- Start schemes delivering across all four nations of the United Kingdom, 13,500 home-visiting volunteers support over 27,000 families and 56,000 children to transform their lives.

We are currently operating in Colchester and South Tendring.
