Advice Service

Independent, confidential advice for older adults

Our Advice & Welfare Service is delivered by experienced advisers who provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to older adults living in Braintree, Colchester and Tendring.

We provide person-centred advice to help you understand your options, maximise your income and access the support available to you. Whether you need help with welfare benefits, housing, care and support options, or completing application forms, our advisers are here to guide you through the process.

How we provide support

We aim to make our service as accessible as possible and offer support in the way that best meets your needs. This may include:

• Telephone appointments
• Home visits
• Digital or online support

What to expect

When you contact us, a member of our team will discuss your enquiry and gather some basic information to understand how we can help.

If your enquiry requires advice, it will be allocated to one of our advisers, who will contact you to discuss your situation and agree the next steps.

Some enquiries can be resolved in a single conversation, while others may require additional appointments or ongoing casework until the issue has been resolved.
