Over 80,000 people in Essex are thought to feel lonely. 

Loneliness can effect us all at difference stages of life. People can feel lonely for many different reasons. Isolation, bereavement, difficulties in establishing friendships and access to social opportunities are all known to be factors increasing loneliness.

Our community and friendship services provide companionship and social opportunities to anyone who is feeling lonely, aged over 18 and living in Essex and aged over 60 living in Thurrock.

We offer volunteer friendship, peer introductions and local community groups and activities.

Find groups and events

We run and find suitable groups and activities across Essex to help you connect with others. Take part in activities such as dancing, arts and crafts, light sports or knitting with like-minded individuals.

Befriending

Our community and friendship service offers a variety of companionship opportunities; from volunteer befriender visits in your home, weekly telephone calls, community companions and small volunteer hosted, peer connection groups.
