Description

DO YOU SUPPORT OR LOOK AFTER SOMEBODY?

In Essex around 18,000 people provide unpaid care or support to adult family member or friend, either in their own home or somewhere else. It can be difficult to recognise yourself as a carer; you might think you are just being a good friend, neighbour or spouse and are ‘just doing what needs to be done’.

Caring for someone covers lots of different things, like helping with their washing, dressing or eating, taking them to regular appointments or keeping them company when they feel lonely or anxious.

Carer Respite Break Scheme - in partnership with Colchester Catalyst Charity
If eligible, grants of up to £600 per year are available for carers who live in the ‘CO’ postcode area to achieve a carer’s break; specifically where assistance is not available from statutory organisations.

To find out if you are eligible to receive a grant please contact our Project Manager, Margaret Andrews. You may be able to identify a short break opportunity that can be taken now or you might want to make plans for later in the year.

Follow us on Facebook for regular updates, advice and information.
We look forward to hearing from you!

2-can Project - is a partnership project delivered by SUMMIT and Essex Carers Support in Tendring. Together we help support the health and emotional wellbeing of vulnerable people and their carers who might be at risk of harm or self-neglect and enable people to identify the solutions, support and services that will assist their recovery and support their long term wellbeing.

Community Outreach – We are working at a very local community level developing innovative and creative ways to connect with family carers. We focus on connecting with community groups to identify and reach out to people who may not identify themselves as carers and/or be connected to support services. If you are a community group who suspect you may have members who are caring for others, we might be able to help you help your membership.
