Driftwood Lodge
Following excessive demand for places and the need for more spacious bedrooms we have acquired a new premises, Driftwood Lodge, in Woodrows Lane Clacton-on-sea, that will provide a lovely environment for the foreseeable future for young people who stay with us.
We specialise in providing step down services between hospital and home as well as long-term residential placements for young people with complex care needs.
Sarah Crow and Amanda Owen are the registered owner's / directors, both experienced sick children's nurses who have worked within paediatric nursing at a senior level. Between them they have over sixty years of experience both in the acute hospital sector and in the community, nursing young people in their own homes and more recently 12 years establishing this service which was judged as a ‘Beacon Service’ by Ofsted.
The home can provide placements for a maximum of 5 young people at any time thus maintaining the ability to provide a homely environment for short-term breaks. We are able to accommodate ambulant and non-ambulant young people with a wide range of complex needs where high levels of intervention are required. Care will be planned, managed and overseen by experienced general and children's nurses, and designed to meet the needs of each individual /young person and their family.
The age and developmental stage of each young person are considered when booking in to provide a compatible mix ensuring a harmonious and enjoyable stay. The age range can be accommodated due to the accommodation's size, large dining area and lounge. The home is continually maintained to a high standard and is bright and cheery. We have an amazing purpose-designed accessible sensory garden which has been designed specifically for the needs and wishes of the young people where they can play safely and enjoy being outside.
