Age Well East is Relocating
Age Well East is relocating from its current headquarters on North Hill, Colchester to its office in Clacton-on-Sea to better serve older people in the local community.
From January 2025, the Age Well East head office will be based at Imperial House, 20-22 Rosemary Road in Clacton-on-Sea. This move from the current location on North Hill, Colchester has been made to reduce overheads and ensure we meet increased costs to enable us to continue to support older people facing poverty, social isolation, ill-health, dementia, and bereavement.
We will continue to deliver all of our vital services in Colchester and across Essex, supporting over 4,000 people by offering Befriending, Advice & Welfare, Bereavement Support, Mental Wellbeing, Dementia Support and a Carers Navigation Service, as well as groups and clubs in the community.
“Given the current economic climate, increasing national insurance costs and the financial pressures faced by the charity sector as a whole, we need to ensure we use our budget wisely to help those people who need us most.
“With the team at Age Well East increasingly working-from-home or in the community and the extensive provision of community clubs and groups established in Colchester, the office and community spaces in this large building are not being used to their full capacity.” – Tom Harrison, CEO at Age Well East.
We will work closely with existing participants who currently attend our clubs and activities in our North Hill hub to find suitable alternative groups in Colchester and ensure a smooth transition.
Although the groups taking place at the North Hill hub will cease, all other Age Well East community-based services and groups will continue to run as usual. These include the popular dementia-inclusive friendship cafes across Essex, online friendship groups and a Friday fish ’n’ chips club.
“The move signals an opportunity for us to maintain and grow our effective support for people in our community at a time of increasing need.” – Kelly Le Friant, Fundraising and Marketing Manager.
