Growing old is a privilege we all hope to experience, yet the joys of retirement are all too often overshadowed by issues such as loneliness, ill-health, dementia, immobility and financial difficulties. Here at Age Well East, we’ve spent the past 75 years offering life-changing free-to-access services to reduce the burden of all these issues, enabling our clients to enjoy the winter of their years.

We advise and provide practical information; we connect communities to tackle loneliness and encourage mental and physical wellness.

Our wrap-around community services include befriending, mental wellbeing, support for unpaid carers, community clubs, and assistance with applications for benefits such as attendance allowance and hidden disabilities blue badges.

Nearly 20,000 people are living with dementia in Essex, and our wide range of services provide a lifeline during a time that many find upsetting and confusing. Our dementia experts provide holistic interventions to support and inform people diagnosed with the disease and their loved ones.
With an estimated 320,000 people aged 65 and over living in Essex, our services are more vital to our communities than ever before.

Last year we helped 4,000 people to age well, and we are determined to continue to increase this number year on year.

Whether it be a query about pensions, housing, or help to find a trusted plumber, we can provide excellent and trusted advice and support. From empowering people to navigate the benefit system to putting them in touch with volunteer friends who are relatable and compassionate.
