Welcome to Sophie Ede, Chief Executive of Age Well East

We are delighted to welcome Sophie Ede to Age Well East as our Interim Chief Executive, as she leads the organisation into its next exciting phase of growth and security. With more than 20 years of experience across the charitable sector, Sophie brings a wealth of knowledge, insight and compassion to our organisation, driving our vital healthy ageing services with steady footing.

Originally trained as a classical singer at Trinity College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, Sophie’s professional journey took a new direction after she lost her hearing in her early twenties. Now a profoundly deaf hearing aid user, she is a passionate advocate for accessibility and inclusion, dedicated to breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for as many people as possible. Alongside her executive leadership roles, Sophie is Chair of Trustees for the national charity Stagetext and serves as an international ambassador for GN ReSound, helping to shape innovative technology for people with profound hearing loss.

A proud Essex local, Sophie lives in mid-Essex with her husband, son and their goldendoodle. Her strong local connection, combined with her professional experience and personal commitment to inclusion, makes her an inspiring leader for Age Well East as we continue our mission to empower people to age well, tackle loneliness, and provide trusted support to older people and their families. Please join us in giving Sophie a very warm welcome to Age Well East.
