Our new name and brand!

We have been empowering and supporting people in later years since 1950. A lot has changed in that time and so has our vision. We realise that growing older is not a cause for concern and believe everyone deserves to age well and live happier and healthier.

That is why we have changed our name from Age Concern Colchester and North East Essex to Age Well East.

You may have also noticed our new logo! Thanks to JG Creative, we have undergone a total makeover. Our new brand reflects our mission: To support and empower individuals to become happier and healthier.

Although our name has changed, the support you trust us to provide hasn’t. We remain focused on empowering those in later years through our many support services and we are growing, introducing new groups and initiatives all the time.

Why do we do this? Because without support, people who live alone (half of all over 70’s) are likely to become lonely, and loneliness increases the risks of developing heart disease, stroke, cognitive decline and depression.

We also know, a fifth of people aged 75+ are living below the poverty line and many aren’t aware of the benefits available to them or how to access them.

We continue to provide advice and information about pensions, benefits, housing, blue badge applications and how to keep safe from cybercrime and fraud. Our popular community friendship services include one to one volunteer friendship, pen friending, and our groups and activities continue to remain available throughout North East Essex.

We have recently expanded our emotional support services which provide crucial support for people experiencing loss, bereavement, declines in emotional wellbeing and end of life care. Whilst our specialist dementia team continues to offer support and guidance to people and their families throughout a dementia diagnosis, and signpost to additional specialist organisations.

We hope you like our new name and look. Visit www.agewelleast.org.uk to see more.
