Colchester half marathon

On 22 May dedicated fundraisers will be taking on the Colchester half marathon to raise vital funds to end loneliness and poverty in their community.

Age Well East (previously know as Age Concern Colchester) has been empowering people in later years since 1950 and their knowledgeable staff and volunteers provide excellent support to those who need it, but they need urgently need funding to keep up with the ever-increasing demand.

With the cost-of-living crisis impacting those on lower incomes or pensions hardest, the need for their service has never been higher.

There’s only 2 months before the 13 mile race takes place and the team are busy training for the heavy hills and long straights.

Fundraiser and runner Tracey, who also works for the charity, said ‘I’m excited for the race but I know I’ve got a long way to go before I’m ready to run 22 kilometres. Age Well East does such important work for the older people of Colchester and North East Essex and those who are lonely. That’s why I chosen to take on the challenge and raise money to support this fantastic cause.”

This is the first fundraising event that Age Well East has attended since the Pandemic started in 2020, which greatly impacted their fundraising abilities.
